The House was constructed in 1952 as part of a golf course development in Nether Providence Township. in the sought after Wallingford/Swarthmore school district. The current owners purchased the property in 1976. and have lovingly maintained throughout their tenure. This cape cod -style home sits on four-tenths acre corner lot with its own driveway and attached two car garage. The rear of the property slopes gently away from the house with the next house about one hundred feet behind. The house on the side is about fifty feet away so that there is ample privacy on all sides. Landscaping surrounding the house includes a large maple tree, ornamental grasses, and a natural garden that has plants that flower during different seasons. A new magnolia tree along with a red-leaf maple were planted at the rear and a dogwood at the front of the house. The house has a stone foundation, brick and vinyl exterior walls, and an asphalt shingled roof. The inside walls are plaster with natural wood flooring. All windows are D/H composite material. The first-floor interior includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, and two bedrooms. The living room has a working wood-burning fire place. An addition described below adds a great room and office. The second floor includes a bath and two bedrooms. The living area on the first and second floors is 2050 square feet including the addition. The basement is on a concrete slab and partially wood paneled. The basement includes a separate entry and has an area of 1050 square feet. It is surrounded by an interior French drain connected to sumps with pumps at the front and rear of the house to prevent ground-water intrusion. The house is equipped with a Brinks security system . In 1988 a 420 sq. foot cathedral-ceiling addition was added to the rear. This consisted of a great room and office. A 230 square-foot adjacent polymer-wrapped lumber deck was also constructed with a SunSetter awning. In 2020 this was upgraded to a motorized awning. The front patio was upgraded with the construction of a wood pergola which is now shaded by the growth of Akibia vines. Both the front and rear of the house provide comfortable shaded places for relaxing or entertaining. In 2010 the entire roof was replaced with Certain Teed shingles over new plywood. All rain gutters and downspouts were replaced and gutter screens installed. The three large skylights on the cathedral-ceiling of the addition were also replaced. In 2012 the first-floor bath was remodeled by adding safety bars and a walk-in shower. In 2019 a new central gas heating and air conditioning system was installed along with a ductless heat pump system for the office portion of the addition. Also, a 22KW whole house standby generator was installed. This provides insurance against power losses. Both the HVAC and generator have been inspected every six months with maintenance performed as needed. A new attic fan was added in 2022 in order to optimize natural gas usage. In 2023 both the exterior and interior of the house were repainted to create a pleasing atmosphere and enhance the living experience in the house.
